Founders FCU, Winthrop CU Merge

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The 2008 merger trend continues as Winthrop Credit Union and Founders Federal Credit Union announce merger plans.

Effective May 1, Winthrop CU becomes Founders FCU with 22 branches and three service centers in North and South Carolina, 170,000 members and over $1.4 billion in assets.

As members of Founders FCU members will now have access to a wide variety of products and services including free checking, great savings rates, free debit cards, platinum Visa credit or Mastercard, free Founders on-line and e-Lending, bill pay, Call 24 Account Access by phone, investment services, financial counseling and Founders Insurance Services, the CU said.

The original staff will continue to operate the Winthrop CU branch.
