Colorado Assoc. Backs Consultant for Congress

WASHINGTON -- The Credit Union Association of Colorado has endorsed Jeffrey Crank in his campaign to win the GOP congressional nomination in that state's 5th District.

"Jeff Crank is a life-long credit union member and he will be a strong and effective voice for credit unions as congressman for the 5th District,'' said CUAC Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs Timothy Dore.

Crank, a business consultant and former congressional staff member, lost the GOP nomination for the seat in 2006 by 892 votes, and finished second in a six-candidate field to succeed retiring U.S. Rep. Joel Hefley (R-Colo.). Crank is running in the Aug. 12 primary against incumbent U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn and retired Maj. Gen. Bentley Rayburn, who finished third in the 2006 primary.

The district includes all or part of six counties, and the district's largest city is Colorado Springs.
