Central Florida CU Chat with Rep. Feeney During Beach Walk

LAKE MARY, Fla. -- Central Florida credit unions joined Representative Tom Feeney (R-Fla.) for a portion of his annual three-day walk on the Volusia County beaches.

Beach walkers included representatives from CFE Federal Credit Union, Healthcare FCU, Martin FCU, Orlando FCU, Kennedy Space Center FCU and the Florida Credit Union League.

According to attendees, the walk served as a town hall meeting, where credit union representatives got to raise questions and issues with Rep. Feeney, including the fallout from the subprime mortgage crisis and how credit unions can benefit, the cap on small business loans, the BSA Act and cost of BSA software, Reg Z and regulatory relief.

The Central Florida Chapter of Credit Unions rallied the Central Florida credit unions to the event after receiving a call from Rep. Feeney's office notifying them of the opportunity.

Credit union representatives say Rep. Feeney appeared relaxed and knowledgeable, and he seemed to really enjoy discussing the issues.
