SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The $1 billion Navigant Credit Union was oneof several entities that supported the Women's Summit, a conferencethat brought nearly 1,000 attendees here from across southeasternNew England.

The summit, which took place in late February at BryantUniversity, featured educational workshops on leadership,entrepreneurship, negotiation, diversity, communication, lifebalance and financial investing.

Geraldine Ferraro, the former New York congresswoman who ran forvice president 24 years ago, was one of the keynote speakers.

|

Ferraro recently resigned from Hillary Clinton's financecommittee after comments she made about Democratic presidentialhopeful Barack Obama's abilities.

|

Ferraro told conference attendees she would not offer anyfurther comments on the matter but did say if Obama wins theDemocrat nomination, she would support him.

Another keynote speaker was Michelle Peluso, president/CEO ofTravelocity, now the sixth-largest travel agency in the world. BankRhode Island President/CEO Merrill W. Sherman, who was honored asthe 2008 Bryant University New England Businesswoman of the Year,also spoke at the summit.
