Harland Clarke Earns Verizon Cybertrust Certification for Third Year

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. -- Harland Clarke has earned the Verizon Business security management program Cybertrust certification, demonstrating Harland Clarke's commitment to security assurance practices, Verizon Business recently announced. This is the third consecutive year that the company has received the certification for its Dallas and San Antonio operations.

Geared to companies that are proactive in their approach to security, Verizon Business' security management program helps companies reduce risk by reviewing their information security measures and addressing a broad range of security needs, from network and system analysis to security policy inspection.

This program is rigorous and must be renewed annually. Of the more than 1,000 businesses and government agencies whose information security measures have been reviewed under the program, only about half received Cybertrust certification, which must be either maintained or renewed annually.

"Harland Clarke has a responsibility to our clients and their customers, shareholders and employees to keep our organization secure by adhering to high levels of integrated security standards," said John Petrie, Harland Clarke's chief information security officer. "Our security controls, policies and procedures have been examined, measured and validated against a stringent set of essential practices as defined by Verizon Business. This certification further validates that security is, and will continue to be, a top priority for Harland Clarke."

During its security audit and review, Verizon Business examined, measured and validated Harland Clarke's security controls, policies and procedures across six risk categories: electronic threats and vulnerabilities, malicious code, privacy issues, human factors, and physical environment and downtime issues. Specifically, this included the extensive review of external perimeter and internal network scanning of critical devices, network configuration and on-site assessments of susceptibility to theft.
