Generations Community CU Appoints President

DURHAM, N.C. -- Generations Community Credit Union announced that Linwood Bowen has been hired as its new president.

Bowen was previously director of Business Affairs for Mount Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C. There he prepared and monitored the budget, investment funds, and human resources. Bowen has 10 years of banking experience in various positions from branch manager to city executive.

"Linwood's depth of experience is impressive," said Generations Community CU Chair Frances Bradshaw. "I feel that his strengths combined with our current strengths will help us devise new ways to effect growth within Generations and continue to serve our members and their communities in a sound and proactive manner."

Bowens' plans for the CU include growing the services to meet the needs of its current membership and to reach new members by reaching out to the youth market.

"We are going to re-establish the youth credit union to stimulate savings among our youth," said Bowen. "We have to re-energize our youth program and identity new and creative ways to teach young people how to save for their futures. It's not enough to only serve the adults, we must reach everyone in the family, which includes educating the youngest members."
