Navy Federal CEO Appointed to President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy

VIENNA, Va. -- President George W. Bush has appointed Navy Federal Credit Union President/CEO Cutler Dawson to the President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy.

"It's an honor to be part of such a distinguished group focused on financial literacy," said Dawson. "I have seen first hand how the impact of poor financial choices can create a spiral of doom in our military communities. At Navy Federal, we work hard to provide financial education for our military members and their families during each life stage--whether creating and managing a budget, buying their first car or purchasing their first home."

The council, established by Executive Order and chaired by Charles Schwab, is charged with advising the White House and the Treasury Department on efforts to boost financial literacy nationwide, including recommendations to better educate people from all walks of life about financial matters.

It is also tasked with keeping America competitive by improving financial education efforts for youth in school and for adults in the workplace. Other members of the council include representatives from business, faith, and non-profit organizations.
