DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Credit Union Foundation provided nine grants to small credit unions across Iowa through its annual small credit union grant program.
Funding for small credit union grants is provided to the foundation annually by Veridian Credit Union's Board of Directors. Two grants are available to small credit unions: one for up to $1,000 for technology and planning needs and the second for up to $2,500 for a credit union manager or board member to attend the annual Governmental Affairs Conference sponsored by CUNA.
The 2007 Small Credit Union Technology Grant recipients included: Dapako Credit Union, Dubuque Teachers Credit Union, Frontier Credit Union, Polk County Employees Credit Union, Postal Employees Credit Union, Power Co-Op Employees Credit Union, Quaker Oats Credit Union, Von Maur Employees Credit Union, and Waterloo Police Credit Union. The Governmental Affairs Conference Grant recipient for 2007 was Leitha Aten of the UNI Credit Union in Cedar Falls. "Thanks to the generous support of the Veridian Credit Union Board of Directors, the Iowa Credit Union Foundation is able to provide crucial support to small credit unions to help them meet their technology needs," said Marybeth Foster, executive director of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation. "The Governmental Affairs Conference Grant allows credit union board members or managers to attend a national conference so that they in turn can better educate elected officials about issues important to small credit unions in Iowa."
