ATLANTA -- Pulling out all the stops to mark the long-time rivalry between the University of Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Georgia's Own Credit Union boosted the contest several notches through a recent promotional campaign.
Named the official sponsor of the college football game between the two rivals, the $1 billion credit union launched its "Georgia's Own Battle" promotion, which featured a Web site (www.georgiasownbattle.com), advertisements on billboards, radio and television and on the Nov. 24 game day, giveaways and an on-field contestant winning $5,000. The Bulldogs went on to beat the Yellow Jackets.
"Whether you're a Bulldog loyal or a die-hard Tech fan, this football tradition unites thousands of Georgians across the state by providing months of anticipation about the outcome," said Charlotte Ayers, president/CEO of Georgia's Own CU. "By giving fans an additional outlet to get involved with their team, and this game in particular, our hope is to add yet one more layer to the excitement that surrounds this special statewide rivalry."
In September, Georgia's Own CU changed its name from Georgia Telco Credit Union, which was chartered in 1934 to serve Bell Co. employees and currently serves nearly 111,000 members.
