First Florida CU Brings Holiday Cheer to Kids in Need

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Florida Credit Union is the sponsor of this year's annual Children's Christmas Party of Jacksonville.

As a corporate sponsor, First Florida CU will set up their own toy house stuffed with donated toys to be given away to the 10,000 kids expected to be at the party. First Florida "elves" will help hand out nearly 30,000 new toys to children in need, ages 12 and younger.

"We are pleased to be a part of such a heartwarming event," said Michelle Troha, First Florida CU senior vice president. "Seeing the joy on the children's faces when they receive their gifts makes it all worthwhile. Out of all the events we're involved in throughout the year, this is definitely one of the most rewarding."

Each child at the party will receive three new toys. Age appropriate toys to be given away include stuffed animals, games, and books. In addition to the toys, a lottery system will be used to give away 500 new bicycles.

The event will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Mayor John Peyton and will include a visit by Santa and musical entertainment.
