SBA Appoints New Region II Administrator

WASHINGTON -- Michael Pappas has been appointed new regional administrator for the Small Business Administration's Region II which includes New York State, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

As regional administrator, Pappas will manage the delivery of the agency's financial assistance, management counseling, business development and minority enterprise development activities throughout Region II. Pappas is preceded by William Manger who was recently appointed associate administrator for the SBA's Office of Field Operations in Washington.

In his new role, Manger, who had headed Region II since 2005, will oversee implementation of Administrator Steve Preston's reform agenda within the agency's 10 regional and 68 district offices. As part of this responsibility, he will monitor district performance goals, provide policy guidance to regional administrators and district directors, and serve as liaison between SBA's field and headquarters. As representative of the field offices, Manger will report directly to the agency's administrator and deputy administrator on the field's views and solve problems in operational areas.
