WASHINGTON -- Michael Pappas has been appointed new regional administrator for the Small Business Administration's Region II which includes New York State, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

As regional administrator, Pappas will manage the delivery of the agency's financial assistance, management counseling, business development and minority enterprise development activities throughout Region II. Pappas is preceded by William Manger who was recently appointed associate administrator for the SBA's Office of Field Operations in Washington.

In his new role, Manger, who had headed Region II since 2005, will oversee implementation of Administrator Steve Preston's reform agenda within the agency's 10 regional and 68 district offices.
