Ayers Appointed to Georgia Central Board

DULUTH, Ga. -- Charlotte Ayers, president/CEO of Georgia's Own Credit Union, has been appointed the newest member of Georgia Central Credit Union's board of directors.

Ayers will complete the unexpired term of Jan Austin, formerly of Lockheed Georgia Employees FCU, who retired from both her credit union and Georgia Central's board last May, according to the $1.65 billion corporate credit union.

"Charlotte is the ideal candidate because she is already quite knowledgeable about the corporate from both a strategic and tactical perspective," said Georgia Central's Board Chairperson Elizabeth Mercier and president/CEO of CDC FCU.

Mercier is referring to Ayers' 30-plus years of service with $1 billion Georgia's Own Credit Union as well as her previous service to Georgia Central's Board from 1987 to 2004. Ayers also served as Georgia Central's Chairperson from 1999 to 2001.

"I am truly looking forward to this opportunity to contribute to the success of Georgia Central Credit Union by playing a role once again in its governance and strategy," Ayers said. "I have always been a supporter of the corporate because I believe strongly in the cooperative framework that drives decisions that are in the members' best interests."

Earlier this year, Ayers was named chairman of the board of CU Images, LLC, a CUSO owned by Atlanta-based Cooperative Services, Inc., Palmetto Cooperative Services, Inc. in Columbia, S.C. and Credit Union Partnerships, Inc. of St. Louis. that provides check and
