Johnson to Address N.Y. Unbanked Conference

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson will discuss the unbanked and the crucial role of financial education during the Financial Literacy and Education Commission's Oct. 4 Northeast Regional Conference on Reaching Unbanked People in New York City.

She planned to discuss why more than 10 million Americans do not have access to mainstream financial services and the important role financial education plays in stabilizing people's lives.

In addition to Johnson, U.S. Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral will be a featured speaker at the regional conference, the fourth in a series of national discussions being held as part of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission's National Strategy for Financial Literacy.
