ARLINGTON, Va. — NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney Hood delivered the key note speech at Credit Union Times Bank Secrecy Act conference held here this morning.

|

Hood stressed that exams should not be "gotcha" moments. Examiners should be consistent with their approach to BSA. One attendee advocated for regional meetings between examiners and credit unions in a conference-like format to talk about BSA compliance issues in an environment other than the actual exam. Hood said he will look into that suggestion. Another attendee questioned why certain areas of the country have a different BSA exam experience than other parts of the country. Hood said the agency is continually educating its examiners to try and bring uniformity to BSA.

Hood sat down with Credit Union Times Editor Paul Gentile to discuss some of the latest BSA issues. Please visit our podcast session http://www.cutimes.com/podcasts to hear this exclusive interview.
