MADISON, Wis. -- CUNA Mutual announced some restructuring moves yesterday primarily in its claims and customer service areas that will result in 50 layoffs.
The moves are part of the company's three-year, $200 million transformation plan.
In Madison, 40 claims positions will be restructured into senior claims roles. CUNA Mutual will also add potentially 10 new senior claims jobs.
The 50 layoffs will primarily come from other claims positions in Madison. The duties of those employees will be shared by customer service operations in Iowa and Texas. CUNA Mutual opened up a new state of the art customer service center in Fort Worth earlier this year.
The company also said 90 other positions in Madison in the claims and customer service areas are being reviewed, and they could be eliminated by year-end. CUNA Mutual is in the process of changing its domicile and merging CUNA Mutual Insurance Society and CUNA Mutual Life Insurance Company.
The company has had approximately 650 layoffs in the page 18 months.
