WAVERLY, Iowa -- CUNA Mutual Group looked in-house for the next president of CUNA Brokerage Services, Inc., its securities broker/dealer.
Mark Backes has been named the president of the subsidiary, succeeding John Henry, who left CUNA Mutual in September after 17 years of service. Backes will lead the broker/dealer operations and provide oversight of the regulatory and reporting structure for CBSI. Backes, who has more than 20 years financial services management experience, joined CBSI in February 2005 as vice president and was named to the CBSI Board of Directors in June 2005. Prior to joining CUNA Mutual, he was senior vice president for Wachovia Securities and held management roles with SouthTrust Securities, Inc., Fifth Third Securities and The Ohio Company.
