ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA has named Keith C. Morton director of Region IV effective May 14.

Morton has been serving as the acting Region IV director since just one day before Hurricane Katrina hit; Region IV includes Louisiana and Texas, as well as Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin. "He has proven to be capable of managing complex operations in stressful situations, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the unflappable leadership he displayed stepping in as acting Region IV director just one day before Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast," NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson said. "What's more, during the past 20 years Keith has demonstrated flexibility, hard work and initiative that have garnered the respect of everyone with whom he works."

Morton has been serving as associate regional director since January 2002. He began as an examiner in Region II in 1986. He has received numerous awards and was selected Supervisor of the Year three times. Also, in 1999, he was nominated for the Arthur S. Flemming Excellence in Government Award.
