In Earth Day Promo, Coastal Pushes e-Mail

RALEIGH, N.C. - With Earth Day April 22 and National Arbor Day April 26 on the calendar, Coastal Federal Credit Union is promoting conservation and environmental stewardship by urging members to use e-statements. By using electronics instead of paper, Coastal said it is "offering a simple solution that will help to reduce paper usage by millions of pages each year." In statement stuffers and on its Web page, Coastal said it is "actively encouraging its 154,000 members to simultaneously help preserve precious natural resources, fight identity theft and save money by opting to receive their account statements electronically. "Every year, Coastal issues more than one million paper statements, each consuming several pages. By making the switch to e-statements, members can help save an estimated 42 tons of paper, or 1,200 trees, annually," the CU concluded.
