BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Credit union data processor EPL has hired former CUNA Mutual Group Chief of Sales and Marketing Jim Gowan as executive vice president of sales. Gowan reunites with another former CUNA Mutual exec, Wayne Benson, who serves as EPL's president. "We are focused on growing, and bringing on a seasoned sales executive who knows the credit union industry like Jim does will really help us," said Benson. Gowan will work from Madison, Wis. Benson said he likes having sales people out in the field, and Madison is a key location given EPL's relationship with CUNA Strategic Services. "Credit unions have long been tied to systems that fail to completely meet their needs and this is where EPL's open architecture will alleviate those credit unions' challenges. The first-rate leadership team Wayne has put together combined with the commitment of the whole organization assures an effective mission to meeting EPL's clients' needs," said Gowan EPL is owned by eight credit unions and the Alabama CU League. Benson said he will soon be seeking additional owners.
