ROME, N.Y. - AmeriCU Credit Union has joined the growing list of credit unions that have been approved to convert to a community charter. Chartered in 1950, the $534 million credit union previously had a mixed employer charter. With its new community charter, AmeriCU Credit Union's field of membership now includes Cayuga, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego counties, as well as designated areas in Oneida County defined as underserved communities. AmeriCU Credit Union has over 100,000 members and nine full-service branches.
