ANN ARBOR, Mich. - To help with the various layers of operational support, Michigan Business Connection, LC, has hired Dana Lemke as its operations administrator. The business lending CUSO provides commercial underwriting and loan origination services to credit unions throughout Michigan. Lemke, who started on Feb. 6, will oversee MBC's operational platform, which is segregated into risk management and operational support. Operational support involves everything from coordinating the delivery of a loan through the various phases and the specific delivery functions of document preparation, loan closing and funding, loan system accounting and payment processing, according to Bill Beardsley, MBC president/chief lending officer. "It relies upon a team concept, where people are cross trained to handle everything within the function," Beardsley said. "It's a little different, because we do not have specialists, yet within each loan one's role might be indeed one specific item, like doc prep, or as broad as being the facilitator of other people's involvement." Launched in March 2004, MBC was founded by MidWest Financial CU; State Employees CU, which will change its name to NuUnion Credit Union in April; Detroit Edison CU; Macomb Schools and Government CU; and Christian Financial CU.
