Fidelity National Closes Certegy Wisconsin Facility

MIDDLETON, Wis. - Fidelity National Information Services, which recently merged with card processor Certegy, has announced it will close Certegy's facility in Middleton, Wisconsin and move many of the company's card positions now based there to other facilities. The card processor says that the merger helped it identify areas where it could save costs by consolidating processes and facilities. The company plans to sell the building in Middleton. Between 45 to 60 of the firm's longest tenured card employees will stay on with the firm in a satellite facility that the company will maintain in the area. FNIS has about 450 employees in the building, roughly 330 card processing employees and about 100 check processing employees. The card processing employees have been given a chance to relocate with their positions to other FNIS facilities in Chicago, St. Petersburg, Salt Lake City and Little Rock, Arkansas, according to Jim Brahm, senior vice president with FNIS. FNIS processes the credit card transactions for over 4,000 credit unions and the facility being closed has credit union roots. That particular card processing facility had first housed CUNA Credit Card Services which was purchased by Equifax and then spun off with Certegy. Brahm said the moves will take place over the next few months and the company anticipates they will be transparent to its financial institution clients.
