PALO ALTO, Calif. - Stanford Federal Credit Union is doing its part to help victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. A total of $22,565 has been raised to benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Early in September, Stanford FCU announced that it would match member contributions to the American Red Cross up to $10,000 and within just three weeks members donated $12,565. "In addition to the devastation caused by the hurricanes, lives have been disrupted making some financial obligations impossible to keep. So, in addition to our contribution through the Red Cross, we are assisting individual members. Immediately after hurricanes, we researched our files and attempted to contact all our members who may be in the affected areas to offer financial assistance," said SFCU President/CEO John Davis.
