WASHINGTON-President George W. Bush extended greetings to those celebrating International Credit Union Day. "Across our country and around the world, credit unions play an important role in advancing economic prosperity and expanding opportunities for individuals and families." the president wrote. "By providing valuable services, credit unions encourage local development, assist small businesses, and help their members achieve their dreams." He continued, "I appreciate credit union employees for your commitment to your members. Your efforts enhance the quality of life of our communities and contribute to their financial stability and success." President Bush sent his and the first lady's "best wishes on this special occasion."
