SEATTLE - For the second consecutive year, Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union has been recognized as one of Washington CEO's best companies to work for. The Seattle-based magazine conducts its "Best Companies to Work For" survey annually with nominations made by companies themselves and their employees. SMCU employees had a chance to judge the CU in nine categories: hiring and retention; communication; benefits; work environment; supervision & decision-making; rewards & recognition; leadership; training & career development; and performance standards. The $420 million SMCU scored the highest in the communication category, according to the publication. "Solid communication is key to creating a healthy work environment where staff concerns and new ideas are heard and taken seriously," says Jennifer Sider, SMCU's vice president of HR & Planning. "At SMCU, we strive to create a friendly, educational work environment where continuous growth and achievements are always encouraged and recognized." More than 100 companies submitted entries this year and more than 10,000 employees completed the survey, accounting for 70% of the total score. Scores from an independent panel of judges accounted for 30% of this year's totals.
