I really enjoyed the article "The next Generation Of Credit Union CEO's Looks Just Fine" in the July 13 issue. Being a CEO under 40 it is nice to see how other CEOs received their opportunity. The article gave terrific insight to individuals aspiring to become a CEO. In my case, I had to relocate and take on a troubled credit union for my chance. I also feel that individuals wanting to become a CEO should get more involved in other area's outside their current responsibility. Get additional training even if it comes out of your own pocket. I worked under a couple of very good presidents that either directly or indirectly helped me get where I am today. John Tippets at American Airlines Federal Credit Union and Craig Barnes at SharePlus Federal Credit Union. I feel the future for credit unions is bright and the younger generation will add fresh ideas for credit unions while remembering the industry's unique history.
