COLUMBIA, Md. - The Maryland Credit Union League held a special membership meeting July 28 to give affiliated credit unions and "any member of the CU's official family" including CEO, board member and management staff the opportunity to vote on the League's proposed merger with the D.C. Credit Union League. Ballots were also mailed to affiliated credit unions to vote on changes to the League's bylaws to allow the merger. Those ballots are due back Aug. 1. D.C. League affiliated CUs were mailed ballots to vote on the merger, and those also have to be returned by Aug. 1. If the memberships of both the Maryland and D.C. leagues approve the merger, the new combined organization will be called the Maryland and District of Columbia Credit Union Association and be based in Columbia. The D.C. League will move from its current office in Alexandria, Va.
