I wanted to congratulate Credit Union Times on recognizing some of the young talent that work within our industry in Paul Gentile's story on CEOs under 40 in the July 13 issue. As an under-40 president/CEO, I believe my peer group has significant talent within the credit union movement that have either achieved the executive director position or have certainly positioned themselves to handle the role in the near future. Too many times, I have read articles that focus on the crisis many credit unions will face in the next 10 years because of president/CEO retirement, but I believe our future is very bright - the up and coming talent have learned the trade through some challenging times within our movement's history. This has prepared them to handle the future challenges head on in a productive manner. Again, thank you for recognizing this group. Chris Fitzgerald President/CEO Rio Grande Credit Union Albuquerque, N.M. (Editor's Note: Fitzgerald was not listed as one of the CEOs under 40 in the chart that accompanied that story. Credit Union Times is certain that list is not complete, so we invite other CEOs under 40 to send in their comments to pgentile@cutimes.com.)
