NEW YORK - Over six weeks after it came to light, still morecredit unions are replacing credit and debit cards whose numberswere among the 40 million found to be compromised in a cardsecurity breach at CardSystems Solutions. The latest is the $2billion Bethpage FCU which will begin replacing 7,000 debit andcredit cards according to a story in Newsday. "We felt that, firstof all, security and sensitivity of security is a major issue forcustomers and that we needed to be proactive in how we deal withthe issue," Bethpage CEO Kirk Kordeleski is quoted as saying in thestory." Even though there is very little consumer risk, we wantedto do everything in our power to close down the accounts." The costof the replacement would come in between $40,000 and $50,000 thatis not covered by insurance, the paper reported.
