ALBANY, N.Y. - With $37,000 more to invest in Capital Region organizations and charities, the Capital Communications Cares Foundation was the big winner in this year's BIG Benefit Raffle Drawing. The Foundation's annual fund-raiser brought in a record amount this year, with some 2,000 tickets sold. "We are amazed every year at the level of support we receive from our members, volunteers and employees, who help us make a commitment to serve the community in which we work and live. The money that we have raised today is a testament to that commitment, and we will pour every cent of it back into the Capital Region during the coming months," said Capital Communications FCU President/CEO and Foundation Chair Paula Stopera. This year's BIG Raffle's $10,000 Grand Prize winner was Thomas Faray and three $1,000 prizes were awarded to lucky winners David Swarczewski, Lisa Lawliss and Sharon Ray. The Foundation was established in 2003 as an extension of the efforts the credit union was already making to provide support for educational endeavors, community enrichment and children's causes.
