RICHMOND, Va. - Credit union attendees at last week's Virginia Credit Union League Annual Meeting heard the presumed Democratic and Republic gubernatorial candidates express their support for credit unions' continued tax exemption. Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine and former Attorney General Jerry Kilgore, also told attendees they support ensuring parity between state- and federally-chartered credit unions. Several state legislators turned out for the League's Annual Meeting's Friday Night Banquet including: Sen. Jay O'Brien (R-39), Sen. Patsy Ticer (D-30), Del. Dave Albo (R-42), Del. Ken Plum (D-36); Del. Jim Scott (D-53), and Del. Steve Shannon (D-35). Del. Jeff Frederick (R-52) was represented by his aide Christi Bearden Schwartz. The Virginia Credit Union League's Annual Meeting was held April 21-23.
