HARRISBURG, Pa. – eCU Technologies is beta testing its new service bureau solution with the $39 million Choice Community CU in Greensboro, N.C. eCU Technologies is the tech CUSO of the $2.3 billion Pennsylvania State Employees CU. It was created to help credit unions leverage their Symitar core system. This is the first time eCU has branched into hosting Symitar's Episys core system. Choice Community will switch to eCU Technologies by July of this year. Choice Community, an in-house Symitar client, was at a crossroads with its core system. It could either upgrade its server and hire more IT staffers or move to the service bureau solution. "We looked at the options of staying in-house or going with an outside vendor to host our system," says Martha Miller, CEO for Choice Community Credit Union. "It made economic sense to go with a service bureau provider. With eCU's hosting capabilities, we didn't need to buy a new RISC box, hire more staff, and we didn't have to handle the added responsibility of maintaining our growing system. It was an easy choice." She said one immediate advantage will be additional tracking and report features that eCU already has in place. Community CU is very familiar with the CUSO, having already used them for home banking and online lending solutions. "We're pleased to have Choice Community become the beta tester for our new service bureau solution," said Alan Brunner, COO of eCU Technologies. "They're the perfect candidate, a progressive, technology-oriented credit union that's always looking to meet the needs of its members with new online offerings."
