ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU has developed a new brochure to inform active military about their rights under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. NAFCU's brochure, The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act: Your Rights and Responsibilities, is free for anyone to download from NAFCU's Web site (www.nafcu.org). The brochure provides a brief explanation of soldiers' rights under the law, such as the 6% interest rate cap and what military personnel need to do to receive the protection. It also explains that the cap only applies to debt incurred before active duty and the servicemember must be materially affected-like a loss in pay-by the call up to active duty.
