Boston ATM Users Miss Stamps

BOSTON - Despite the axiom that most ATM users only want money from their ATMs, Bank of America is reporting taking phone calls from ATM users in the Boston area who had been used to Fleet bank ATMs which offer stamps. The same machines, now run by Bank of America, do not offer them. "Essentially, this change was made in an effort to standardize the features between the Bank of America and the Fleet machines," Alex Liftman, a Bank of America spokesperson, told the Boston Phoenix, an alternative newspaper in Boston. "Not all the Fleet machines had this feature," she says "and only a limited number of these transactions were made on a monthly basis." Critics complain that there was usually a stamp issuing ATM next to one that did not offer stamps and that the loss of the stamp feature has made their lives a little less convenient.
