RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The California Credit Union League has become the first statewide credit union association to have a full-time lobbyist working in Washington, D.C. Starting April 11, Ryan Donovan, legislative director and former acting chief of staff for Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) is the CCUL's new Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist. Donovan will report to CCUL SVP of Government Affairs Bob Arnould. Donovan has served on Sherman's staff since June 2000. He also served as a House Financial Services Committee aide, advising Sherman on issues before the committee Sherman serves on including predatory lending, securities regulation, accounting reform, and credit union and bank issues. Prior to joining Sherman's staff, he worked for three years on the staff of retired congressman and former House Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt, serving as a staff assistant, legislative correspondent, and executive assistant. "Ryan has nearly a decade's experience working in the House of Representatives for two high-ranking members of Congress. He has demonstrated skills in analyzing, developing, implementing, and managing complex public policy issues including those relating to credit unions and other sectors of the financial services industry. He's a valuable addition to our team as we continue to put greater emphasis on political advocacy on behalf of California and Nevada credit unions," said CCUL EVP Matthew Davidson.
