WASHINGTON- Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) thanked CUNA andits member credit unions for “the leadership you have demonstratedin helping to advance bankruptcy abuse reform legislation,” in aletter addressed to Governmental Affairs Conference attendees. “Asyou know, the bankruptcy bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committeeon February 17 and will be on the Senate floor this week,” he wrotein the Feb. 25 letter. “I am hopeful that we will finally get thisbill done in this Congress.” The Senate Judiciary Committee memberadded that he regretted not being able to make the GAC. “Mycolleagues and I who firmly believe this legislation is necessaryto correct the present imbalance in the bankruptcy system willagain be relying on your grassroots strength to move the billintact to the House, and then on to the President for hissignature,” Grassley said. “We could not have achieved this rapidprogress without your help.” [email protected]
