Merced School EmployeesFederal Credit Union, Calif., has reached a milestone of 50 yearsof service. In 1954, seven educators came together and formed afinancial cooperative aimed at helping school employees save moneyby borrowing from each other at affordable rates. 50 years later,with four branches, over $285 million in assets and serving over32,500 members, MSEFCU has come a long way from its humblebeginnings. Ringing in 25years of service is TOP CU. Northwest Corporate Credit Union,Portland, Ore., Vice President of Human Resources Cathy Lawpaughhas celebrated her 25th anniversary. Lawpaugh has an extensivehistory with Northwest Corporate since she started her employmentback on January 3, 1980, as a clerk for Oregon Corporate CentralCU. Today Lawpaugh oversees not only the human resource department,but facilities, administration, and coordinates the NorthwestCorporate University, where she shares her knowledge and belief inthe credit union movement with the staff.
