RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond Postal CU filed an application on Sept. 22 with the Virginia Bureau of Financial Institutions of the State Corporation Commission to expand its field-of-membership to include the City of Richmond, which qualifies as a "Distressed Community/Investment Area" based on Year 2000 U.S. Census Bureau data. The estimated U.S. Census population of Richmond is 194,729. Richmond Postal CU currently has approximately 8,345 members and more than $68 million in assets. Chartered in 1923, it is the oldest credit union in Virginia. Its FOM currently includes various occupation and association groups.
