BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Credit union data processor EPL used itsrecent 26th Annual User's Conference to showcase its new opensystem strategic approach. The new approach is based on its I-Powersystem that runs on Sun Microsystems hardware and an Oracledatabase. EPL President and CEO Gregg Hipp, speaking at the openinggeneral session, said the company was really at a turning pointthree years ago, and fortunately its owners made the decision tore-engineer the system. EPL Chief Information Officer MichaelStoeckert said creating a truly open strategy meant changing notjust the system, but also some of the people and procedures at EPL.EPL serves 150 credit unions and is wholly-owned by creditunions.
