CURIA Expecting New Co-Sponsors Last Week?
WASHINGTON - The Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 3579) was expected to gain some more cosponsors last week, according to CUNA Vice President of Legislative Affairs and Senior Legislative Counsel Gary Kohn. "Cosponsors continue to trickle in and I think officially it's at 39 now, but that will be over 40 this week. We know of several more additions coming on," Kohn said. No new cosponsors had signed on as of press time. The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit is aiming at the first full week of June for a hearing on H.R. 3579, he added, but nothing is set in stone yet. In preparation for that, and in an attempt to placate community bankers, there is a hearing scheduled for this week on small bank regulatory burden.
