MADISON, Wis. – The National Credit Union Foundation disbursed $321,525 in the first quarter of 2004, bringing the total disbursed to over $13 million total. The mission of the National Credit Union Foundation is to help consumers achieve financial independence through credit unions," says Francois Henriquez, Chair of NCUF's Grants Committee and senior vice president and general counsel of US Central Credit Union. "Foundation grants are approved for projects that support our mission by improving access to affordable financial services, promoting financial literacy or improving asset accumulation." Grant recipients in the first quarter of 2004 included the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, the Texas Credit Union League, the World Council of Credit Unions and the Consumer Federation of America, among many others.
