SEATTLE – As the year progresses, look for more credit unions torevamp their brand and names. Seattle-based branding and marketingfirm Weber Marketing Group (WMG) reports there is a “tremendousdemand among financial firms to develop more competitive brands fortheir organizations.” In just the past year alone, WMG says ithelped credit unions ranging in size from billion dollar heavyhitters like Lockheed FCU and Mission FCU to smaller credit unionslike Utah 1st CU and Community Resource CU revitalize their brandor change their name. So far, four more renaming and brandingprojects are lined up to be completed in early 2004. According toWMG President Mark Weber, the reason why credit unions are ready to“refocus their staff, resources, branches, online communicationsand overall market image is so that they can better compete head tohead with major banks in their communities.”
