SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Service Centers Corporation, the first shared branching organization in the U.S. and the wholly-owned shared branching subsidiary of CO-OP Network, said employees at its 26 stand alone shared branches referred credit union members to additional credit union products and services almost 10,000 times in the first six months of this year. "The SCC referral program is one of the many unique, but under publicized benefits of participating in shared branching," said SCC CEO Dan Balagna. "By providing sales leads, and promoting credit union products and services through account relationship sales techniques supported by in-branch posters and brochures, SCC's stand-alone branches act as a valuable marketing vehicle for our member credit unions. We're essentially looking for opportunities to add value to a credit union's participation in shared branching." Of the three nationwide shared branching networks, SCC has the largest number of stand alone shared branches. Employees at the stand alone branches work for SCC and are trained to look for opportunities to offer credit union members additional products from their credit unions such as credit cards, debit cards, checking accounts and loans.
