LATHAM, N.Y. - The New York State Credit Union League has partnered with Certegy to offer its member credit unions a better price on Certegy's Patriot Guard, a program designed to help credit unions meet their obligations under the USA Patriot Act. Certegy's Patriot Guard is a comprehensive program to help credit unions of all sizes verify the information required by Section 326 of the Act to reduce the risk of identity theft. It provides an all-inclusive framework for developing and administering a Customer Identification Program and includes the ability to simultaneously search multiple government databases to ensure the accuracy of identity information presented to credit unions. Other components help credit unions comply with Section 314a regulations and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. The Patriot Guard program also houses the verification data for future retrieval. "Through Certegy we are helping New York credit unions have access to a complete program that will help them come into compliance by the October 1 deadline," said Donna Chardeen, NYSCUL's compliance director. "That we could make the product available at such a reduced rate is a great plus."
