WASHINGTON - Mary Martha Fortney, vice president of state government affairs for NASCUS was recently sworn in as a member of the board of trustees of Women in Housing and Finance. The WHF actively promotes women in the fields of financial services and housing. According to the association, it has become a forum for top policy makers and experts in the financial services fields. Its activities include personal finance counseling programs to enhance the financial literacy of low-income women or other at-risk individuals; partnership grants to organizations that provide services to women and their families in the Washington, D.C. area; and coordinating volunteer activities of WHF members Fortney has been with NASCUS for 10 years. Prior to working at NASCUS, Fortney worked on Capitol Hill as Director of Agency Liaison during Jimmy Carter's administration, and then as staff director to former Congressman Carroll Hubbard (D-Kentucky).
