WASHINGTON-CUNA seems to have become a breeding ground of late for their constituents' regulator. CUNA Vice President of Information Services Steve Bosack, also vice president of public relations, is the latest CUNA staffer to move over to NCUA. Earlier this year, former CUNA lobbyist Maura Hampton was hired on as NCUA Vice Chair JoAnn Johnson's executive assistant. Previously, CUNA's now-Senior Vice President of Government Affairs John McKechnie also nearly joined NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar's staff a couple years ago before he received a counteroffer to remain with CUNA. Bosack will serve as NCUA Board Member Deborah Matz' top aide beginning June 30. Her former executive assistant, Nancy Smith, retired earlier this month. "Steve will bring a wealth of experience and an enormous talent to NCUA," Matz said. "He has an extensive knowledge of credit union issues and I am enthusiastically awaiting his arrival." Until then Senior Corporate Specialist David Shetler will serve as an interim executive assistant as he has since May 5. Prior to Smith, then-NCUA Senior Staff Attorney Mike McKenna had served temporarily as Matz' executive assistant. For the last 10 years, Bosack has handled corporate communications, media relations, conference planning, and publication production for CUNA. Most recently named vice president of information services, he also served as editor for CUNA's News Now electronic daily news service. Bosack graduated cum laude from Boston College in 1987, where he earned a bachelor's degree in communications and economics. His extensive experience in the credit union movement began with four years as a writer and editor for independent publications serving credit unions, including Credit Union Times.
