HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is considering legislation that would prohibit the use of social security numbers in credit card transactions. House Bill 279, sponsored by state Rep. Jim Lynch (R-65) would prohibit persons who accept credit cards for business transactions from requesting the card holders' social security number. The bill is currently in the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee.
