WASHINGTON - The once exclusive group of $1 billion CUs isn't so exclusive any more. As this list of the Top 100 CUs by assets (provided by Callahan & Associates) shows, there are now 62 CUs over the $1 billion mark, and this list isn't even completely up to date. Two CUs that appear as on the cusp of $1 billion on this chart have since eclipsed the milestone. (The chart was not altered to maintain consistency with the other CUs' figures.). They are First Tech and MacDill - and there could be more. In fact based on this list the $1 billion CU club could number more than 70 by year-end. Chart is as of June 1, 2002.
