CHULA VISTA, Calif. – North Island Financial Credit Union is celebrating San Diego and the people, places and events that make it unique. Each month, one San Diego individual, business, community group or interest will be featured prominently in displays located in NIFCU's 10 branch locations. "NIFCU has been a part of San Diego for more than 60 years, and we are proud to celebrate our neighbors and their commitment to excellence, quality and the communities in which we all live and do business," said Geri Dillingham, NIFCU executive vice president of retail delivery and corporate planning. "It is with great pride that we are embarking on the Celebrate San Diego display program. We believe that these people – groups and individuals – stand out and deserve our heartfelt recognition and thanks for everything that they have done for San Diego." In addition, NIFCU is working with the San Diego Historical Society to bring the past to life. Photos from the society's extensive archive will be used to complement the display with a glance back at the early days of San Diego. "Our goal is to connect the past to the future so all generations will understand and appreciate the richness of San Diego's regional history," said Robert M. Witty, executive director of the San Diego Historical Society.
