CHESTER, Pa. – The Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and Chester Education Foundation have teamed up to help former Welfare to Work recipients manage their personal finances. According to FMFCU business Development Officer Susie Nussear, many Welfare to Work participants have little or no experience in the fundamentals of money management. "We want to be a community resource for Chester rather than just a financial institution," said Nussear. Welfare to Work recipients will learn such skills as how to open a check or savings account, how to write a check and apply for credit and how to plan for their financial future. Nussear says plans are underway to implement this on-going educational project in all of the credit union's SEGs as a free value-added service.
